27 January International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust
International Day Commemoration is celebrated on 27 January every year in memory of the Holocaust victims.
On 27 January 1945, Soviet troops liberated more than 7,000 remaining prisoners of the Nazi concentration of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the liberation of the exile camp.
In November 2005, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) officially celebrated 27 January as International Day in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
The aim of the celebration is to ensure dignity and respect for human rights of all people everywhere.
On this day, UNESCO organize several events to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German concentration and devastation camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.Events include an educational conference, commemoration ceremony and exhibitions in Paris, Spain,Poland and Philippines'.
