9 February - Importance of Day in Indian History.

1757 - Treaty Between Siraj-ud-Daulah and Robert Clive. British were allowed to guard their fort (killabandi)and open a mint in Kolkata.
1917 - Birthday of Homi Talyarkhan - Great Politician
1929 - Birthday of A.R. Antule --Barrister Abdul Rahman Antulay He was an Indian politician. Antulay was a union minister for Minority Affairs and a M. P. in the 14th Lok Sabha of India.
1931 -    Capital of India was shifted from Calcutta to New Delhi and a set of six stamps were released during the inauguration.
1946 - Mutiny in Navy in Mumbai harbour against trial of INA men
1951 - First census of free India undertaken.
1984 - Death of  Balasaraswati - World famous  music singer and dancer.
1985      Editor of 'Sakal', a Marathi daily
 newspaper, passed away.
1989       Sanjay Khan, actor-director, critically injured in a fire accident.
1991     India holds the last decennial census of the century.
1992------Pakistan bans JKLF march.
1992 -------Publication of daily 'Lokpatra' started from Nanded.
1993--------Congress (I), AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu breaks over Hindi imposition.
1994-------Supreme Court sets aside disqualification (under anti-defection law in 1991) of former Goa CM Ravi Naik.

2000-------The Madras High Court suspends the one-year jail sentence passed by a Special Court against the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalitha, in the 'Pleasant Stay Hotel Case'.
